V3, Good Things Come in 3’s
Mixed Media Art Show

Feb. 3 – 27, 2014
Artists Reception • Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014

Martha Gibson, Dianne Hicks and Brenda McKinney bring their mixed media art to Keller Town Hall for “V3, Good Things Come in 3’s” during the month of February.

Martha Gibson earned her undergraduate degree in art education from the University of Wisconsin (LaCrosse) and her graduate degree in art education from Texas Woman’s University (Denton). After teaching for 28 years in middle and high schools she has embarked on a career as a fulltime artist, which she says “has allowed me to concentrate on my mixed media photographs and assemblages. I am drawn to these media because I am fascinated by the way in which our interior lives become visible, how our pasts intermingle withour presents and are revealed.”

Dianne Hicks began her art career in grade school with oil painting classes and later formal watercolor and collage. She attended the University of North Texas where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. “My love of paper and collage has led me to work in not only large scale watercolors, but also bookmaking, altered books and small collages.”

Our third artist, Brenda McKinney, an artist and professor of the arts, inspired by nature and influenced by masters of the past. One such master, Katsushika Hokusai wrote”….I began to grasp the structures of birds and beasts, insects and fish, and of the way plants grow. If I go on trying, I will surely understand them still better by the time I am eighty-six, so that by ninety I will have penetrated to their essential nature. At one hundred, I may well have a positively divine understanding of them, and I will have reached the stage where every dot and every stroke I paint will be alive.”

Visit this intriquing exhibit in February and meet the artists on Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 7 to 9 pm at Town Hall. Share coversation, art and refreshments along with fellow art enthusiasts.
