SNAP Welcomes New Executive Director
Board President Rita Goodner said, “We are very excited that Brandy Schimmel has accepted the Executive Director Position of North Texas SNAP. She brings significant experience and enthusiasm to our organization. Brandy is a valuable addition to North Texas SNAP and will be instrumental in expanding our program services for our members.”
Mrs. Brandy Schimmel will lead the organization in its efforts to ensure that individuals 17 and older living with intellectual disabilities and their families have a community and network that supports independence, choice and personal success for generations to come.
Schimmel adds, “This year, North Texas SNAP is celebrating 15 years of service to individuals 17 and older living with intellectual disabilities and their families. I am excited and honored to be joining North Texas SNAP as their Executive Director. SNAP members have the same hopes and dreams as their peers without intellectual disabilities; they want to have jobs, friendships, and healthy relationships as well as feel like a part of their community and be treated with respect.”
Schimmel earned a Bachelors of General Studies (BGS) from Texas Woman’s University in 2008 and completed her Masters of Management and Public Administration (MMPA) from the University of Phoenix in 2012. She has served on North Texas SNAP’s board since 2012, most recently serving as Vice President. In addition, she has served the past two-years as co-chair of our annual fundraising gala.
