Summer is officially here! Be sure to take advantage of all that the City of Bedford has to offer this month.

As a reminder, our annual 4Fest will start at 4:00 p.m. at the Boy’s Ranch Park. There will be a free children’s activity area, live music by New Ground Band, a firework extravaganza and so much more. I hope to see you all there!

For parents that find themselves routinely telling the kids to “stop being so dramatic” our Summer Drama Camp at the Old Bedford School is for you! Kids 8-14 years old can sing and dance their way to Hollywood, all the while building their self-confidence. The camp runs July 7-10 from noon to 5:15p.m. For more information, please visit

Is your child a fan of cuddly animals and funny cartoons? Be sure to sign them up for the Boy’s Ranch Activity Center animal cartoon drawing workshop that runs July 28-31. Over the course of four days, kids 5-12 years old will learn how to draw animals of all shapes, sizes and colors. They will learn how to personify ordinary animals, transforming them into fully-realized cartoon characters. For more information, please call 817-952-2323.
The Bedford Library has a great many things to offer kids and teens this summer. Every Tuesday from 2-4:00 p.m. you can enjoy a free movie at the library or bring your kids to free Saturday Gaming at the Library. Every Saturday from noon-2 p.m. teens and kids can play PS3, Wii or even board games in the teen room. And last but not least, don’t miss Reading 2 Rover on Sunday, July 27 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. Heart of Texas Therapy Dogs help encourage children to read by providing a non-judgmental listener. These furry listeners enjoy lying next to the reader and the relationship between child and dog enables the child to gain a positive attitude about reading, improve reading skills, build confidence and enjoy reading. For additional information, please call 817-952-2350 or go online at

As a final note, I want to make sure everyone knows about our Senior Center weekly dances. For $6 you can enjoy a live band, refreshments and dancing. Folks who are 50 and older, whether partners or single are welcome. This is EVERY Monday night from 7-9:30 p.m. at 2817 R.D. Hurt Pkwy. Registration is not required. For more information please call 817-952-2329.
