Northwest ISD

With more than 19,000 students achieving at high levels, the Northwest ISD community has many reasons to be proud. The 2013-2014 school year ended with much celebration and appreciation of the hard work and perseverance shown by students and staff. It was an honor to recognize more than 1,000 graduates from Byron Nelson, Northwest and Steele Accelerated High Schools who together earned more than $17.5 million in scholarships.

Thanks to the support of the Northwest ISD community, we have worked to ensure that our graduates are future ready. My hope is that they continue a lifelong journey of learning, embracing challenges, developing personal interests and discovering new ideas. With the guidance of our future-ready vision, I trust that these new graduates – and all of our students – are prepared for life’s exciting adventure.

We want to be certain that the education students receive in Northwest ISD meets the high standards of our community. To help guide us in achieving this goal, a committee of students, parents, community members, staff and administrators identified community values and proposed measures of success in the 2012-2013 school year. I am proud to share that you will be able to view and monitor our Community-Based Accountability efforts through an interactive data dashboard on the district’s website. With the community’s support of future-ready learning, we know that you expect more than just test scores or grades as an indicator of student success. As we focus on the four community values of Academic Preparation and College Readiness, Personal Growth and Success, Citizenship and Community Service and Student, Parent, Community and Staff Participation, the community will have the opportunity to easily see how and what we are doing to achieve our future-ready vision.

As always, thank you for your support and partnership, and thank you for the opportunity to serve the children of Northwest ISD. As you prepare for the new school year, please remember that online enrollment is underway for students new to the district and returning students may register beginning July 14 at http://www.nisdtx.org/enrollment. Best wishes for a safe and happy summer, filled with new learning opportunities
