Roanoke end of the year
We have had a wonderful year in 2013 wrapping up many projects throughout the City of
Roanoke. There were three major street construction projects. There were over thirty CO’s (certificate of occupancy) for new businesses in Roanoke, most notable were Chick-Fil-A and the BlueWave Car Wash. In development, the Briarwyck subdivision is in the final two phases of residential development of 140 homes. The Fairway Ranch subdivision has built model homes and will be building 580 homes. The Glenmere and Highlands Glen addition on the north side of Roanoke will build over 135 homes. Roanoke will continue in to 2014 with over $4 million in Capital Improvements, which include the Main Street project, which is currently under construction and three street projects in the Marshall Creek subdivision. We will be designing the continuation of Oak Street to the south and along the path, a new city hall design. The city will be seeing a lot of new restaurants most notable is Matt’s El Ranch Tex-Mex, which will be located on Oak Street and completion in June of 2014. ALDI Grocery is approximately 40% complete opening in the first quarter of 2014. The City of Roanoke recently received an upgrade in our bond rating from an A to a AA. This will enable the city’s bonding capacity and at lower interest for our capital improvements. We also saw an increase of approximately 10% in sales tax in 2013 with $12 million in annual collections.
I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the Unique Dining Capital of Texas, Roanoke, Texas.
Carl “Scooter” Gierisch, Mayor City of Roanoke
