HELP A CHILD DO WELL IN SCHOOL! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HOMEWORK HELP CENTER
Volunteer as a Homework Help Center tutor at the Watauga Public Library and help children to succeed in school. Volunteers assist with reading, spelling, math, and other homework. Homework Help Center volunteers work one-on-one or in small groups with children in 1st through 6th grades to help them develop the skills and confidence they need to do well in school.
The Homework Help Center begins on Tuesday, September 9th and meets on Tuesdays, 3:45-5:45 pm and on Thursdays, 5:30-7:30 pm in the Library Meeting Room. Volunteers may sign up for one or both days. School holidays and summer closing are observed.
Adults are expected to have a high school diploma and be skilled in reading or math. Teens ages 14 and older who are in the National Honor Society or the Junior National Honor Society are encouraged to volunteer. This is a good way to earn community service hours for school. English/Spanish and English/Vietnamese bilingual tutors are also needed.
For more information or to sign up as a volunteer, call Volunteer Coordinator Dana Harper at 817.514.5865, or stop by the Watauga Public Library at 7109 Whitley Road in Watauga.
