Bicentennial Park Playground Update

Bicentennial Park Playground Update

A new playground is coming to Southlake! Set for its Grand Opening in the summer of 2015, the new Bicentennial Park playground will create a place for kids to imagine, create and explore. The park design was a collaborative effort between Southlake citizens, city staff and professional consultants. The new playground will have several unique features, and will be fun for kids of all ages! In the center of the playground there will be a water spray pad. On one side of the spray pad there will be a play area specifically designed for ages 2-5 with sand tables, a playhouse, net climber, spinners, a hill slide and swings. For toddlers, a lounging baby dragon sculpture will spray water into a creek play basin.

For more adventurous children, there will be a dragon climbing wall and caves carved into a hill. Children will be able to climb the wall to access a bridge to more traditional play structure, or run to race each other on side-by-side zip lines. One of the main features of the playground will be a net climber that is 25 ft tall at the center of the pyramid.

For children musically inclined, there is an area with chimes, drums and a metallophone. In anticipation of the Miracle League baseball program, the playground also has several elements for special needs children.

In addition to the great play structures, the park will have plenty of shaded seating, a picnic table and three pavilions. The park is sure to bring lots of laughter and memories to Bicentennial Park, and we hope you are as excited as we are!
