Traffic flow should improve in early to mid-September

At that time, the center gap between the northbound and southbound lanes will be eliminated, making the southbound lanes adjacent to the northbound lanes. This change will take place at a time that has minimal impact on drivers. We expect this shift in lanes to improve your driving experience on SH 26. This shift will also allow us to program the traffic signals to allow concurrent green lights in both directions, thereby greatly improving traffic flow. Electronic message boards will be placed along SH 26 & John McCain at appropriate times to provide details on when the lane changes will take place.

As you know, plans can change with construction projects due to weather, scheduling and other issues. Please know we’ll do our very best to provide you the most accurate information possible, as soon as it becomes available.
