Kids Who Care Resident Company Begins Tour with An Evening with Laura Bush
Kids Who Care, a non-profit international musical theatre company based in Fort Worth’s Cultural District, will perform selections from District XI: Believe in Me, for Mrs. Laura Bush and over 1,000 distinguished guests at a dinner benefitting Read2Win literacy initiative.
District XI: Believe in Me is an extraordinary musical that celebrates the teachers who are changing the world and reminds us that together, we can create the education our children need. From your first crush, to the dreaded seat assignment, everyone in the audience can identify with this fresh look at the most common rite of passage. Let’s stop measuring and start inspiring our teachers and students.
Kids Who Care’s Founding Director Deborah Jung says it best, “Our first original work was written in 1990 was presented at the Kennedy Center at the Texas Festival of the Arts. Now in our 26th year, we perform one of our finest original works “District XI”. It is our hope that we can change the world with a powerful message performed by 55 extraordinary kids from across the Fort Worth and surrounding counties! Our children will remind us to renew our dedication to great teachers who give their lives to opening new worlds of insight every single day. Invite to your community to rock your world!”
District XI: Believe in Me is a collaborative effort of Texas playwrights and songwriters, including Kids Who Care alumni. The youth actors at Kids Who Care helped steer the show’s content, through their words and feedback as the script and original songs evolved. The musical’s cast is the 2014 Resident Company who are committed to touring with Kids Who Care year round.
Matinee performance times for District XI are as follows: October 10 at 10:30 am, and 12:00 pm; The evening performance of District XI on October 10 begins at 7:30 pm. All performances will be at the Scott Theatre, located at 1300 Gendy Street in Fort Worth. Ticket prices are $18 for ages 16 and up, $15 for those 15 and younger and $10 each for groups of 15 or more.
