One sample site tests positive for WNV
The Tarrant County Public Health Department has notified the city of Colleyville that one of its mosquito samples submitted this week tested positive for the West Nile virus. The sample site is at 315 L.D. Lockett Road. Residents within one half mile of the site have been notified through the city’s CodeRED system. This is the first positive test for this site. All other samples submitted by the city this week tested negative.
The city will institute localized, targeted fogging in the affected area this weekend. We will use all-terrain vehicles and backpacks. No fogging will be conducted from trucks on city streets. Residents in proximity to the fogging area will be notified prior to the start of fogging.
The city will continue larvicide treatment at this site, along with regular mosquito surveillance. For additional information, visit the Mosquito Management section from the Colleyville.com homepage or visit Tarrant County’s Take Control, Stop West Nile page.
