Second Mosquito Sample in Park Vista Area of City Tests Positive for West Nile Virus – City to Spray Affected Area
According to the Tarrant County Director of Public Health, during the week of September 21 – 27, the City of Watauga received a second positive test for West Nile Virus in a mosquito trap located at the intersection of Elk Ridge Drive and Park Vista Blvd. in Watauga.
To protect citizens, in conjunction with CDC recommendations, the City has contracted with Vector Disease Control International (VDCI) to perform mosquito ground spraying within a 1/2 mile radius around the positive trap site three (3) nights in row between the hours of 9:00 p.m. -10:30 p.m. beginning Thursday, October 9 and ending on Saturday, October 11. VDCI will be using a Permetherin based chemical for ground applications called Permanone RTU.
The area of the City being sprayed includes all of Park Vista within City limits as well as the area generally located east of 377, west of Patsy Lane, south of Chapman Rd and north of Bowie St.
