Second Mosquito Sample in High Lawn Terrace Area of City Tests Positive for West Nile Virus – City to Spray Affected Area
According to the Tarrant County Director of Public Health, during the week of September 28 – October 4, the City of Watauga received a second positive test for West Nile Virus in a mosquito trap located at the intersection of High Lawn Terrace and Rufe Snow Drive in Watauga.
To protect citizens, in conjunction with CDC recommendations, the City has contracted with Vector Disease Control International (VDCI) to perform mosquito ground spraying within a 1/2 mile radius around the positive trap site three (3) nights in row between the hours of 9:00 p.m. -10:30 p.m. beginning Monday, October 13 and ending on Wednesday, October 15. VDCI will be using a Permetherin based chemical for ground applications called Permanone RTU.
The area of the City being sprayed includes the area generally located east of Indian Springs Road, west of Rufe Snow Drive, south of Bursey Road and north of Starnes Road.
