Local nonprofit launches new volunteering tool

Volunteering in DFW just became even more impactful.

For its first birthday, Voly.org launched its newest feature – teams. Everyone from families to company departments can use the platform to organize group activities that give back and transform communities.

Voly.org is the community engagement tool that matches local nonprofits with volunteers, powered by the Volunteer Center of North Texas, one of the largest, most active volunteer centers in the country.

An individual can start a team, ask their friends (or other Voly users) to join, and select causes they are interested in following. Nonprofits can either work directly with the team to create an opportunity, or a team can find current opportunities that fit its passion.
While this is a great tool for groups who already know each other, this is also an excellent, low-pressure way to meet new people. Voly users can join other teams based on the team’s interests.

“Volunteering as part of a group is a great bonding experience for the volunteers and makes the most impact for our nonprofits,” said Tammy Richards, CEO of the Volunteer Center of North Texas. “If an hour of one volunteer’s time is worth $24, imagine what five, six, or even 20 more people could do for our community in one setting.”

Our nonprofits are also gearing up for the holiday season. They’re posting their needs for volunteers who can deliver food to clothing donations. Families, faith-based groups, coworkers, and teams of friends can become a meaningful powerhouse on Voly.org.
