Spread the Word – We Are NISD

Do you know when NWISD became NISD?

Northwest ISD is one of the fastest growing school districts in the area. Learn more about the history of NISD and how you can help us spread the word that Northwest ISD is NISD, not NWISD!

WHO – Approximately 20,000 students
2,064 full-time staff members

WHAT – Northwest ISD, also known as NISD, is one of the fastest growing school districts in the area. NISD has a vision of becoming the best and most sought-after school district where every student is future ready: ready for college, ready for the global workplace and ready for personal success.

Northwest ISD embraces the communities of Aurora, Haslet, Justin, New Fairview, Newark, Northlake, Rhome and Trophy Club, along with portions of Flower Mound, Fort Worth, Keller, Roanoke, Southlake and Westlake.

Did you know NISD is approximately 15% built out and currently has 59 active housing developments?

WHEN – The NISD story begins in the late 1800s when schools began appearing in the area among railroads, general stores and stables. In 1949, the one-school districts of Haslet, Justin, Rhome and Roanoke united to form Northwest ISD. At one time, the district used the abbreviation NWISD, but in the late eighties Northwest ISD was rebranded to NISD because Northwest ISD is one word and not two.

WHERE – Located in the northwest area of the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex, Northwest ISD encompasses 234 square miles, spans three counties and serves 14 municipalities. The district operates 17 elementary schools, five middle schools, two comprehensive high schools and one accelerated high school.

WHY – The district strives for positive parental and community partnerships in our schools. Northwest ISD is unique in that it serves 14 communities and three counties. The common thread between each municipality is Northwest Independent School District. It is important that the school district is presented in a consistent manner and style to help shape the opinions about NISD.

We need your help! Please spread the word that Northwest ISD is NISD not NWISD.
