WHAT: A week-long drug prevention education and advocacy campaign, Red Ribbon Week, will culminate with a special assembly Friday. ASA High School Tour will make its next stop at Irving High. While athletes will be performing BMX stunts on a state-of-the-art half-pipe to excite students, their main purpose is to communicate a message of anti-tobacco/anti-bullying. Each show utilizes the allure of action sports and the credibility of the top pros to communicate a peer-to-peer anti-smoking or bullying prevention message. Students can win prizes, get autographs and participate in a variety of contests. In conjunction with the event, students had the opportunity to enter an essay contest on a corresponding topic. The winners will get to have an autograph-signing and lunch with the athletes.
