Celebrating Hospice Month – A Fort Worth Foundation

Project 4031 Foundation was established to meet needs for people at the end of their lives.

None of us want to die. But we all will. Project 4031, a non-profit organization, was established to make dying, well, a little less stressful. Unfortunately, many people spend their last days uncomfortable, alone, worried and unfulfilled. Project 4031 tries to ease that stress through three areas of service, which is a free service to Hospice companies and individuals. Kristina Robertson, director of Project 4031 states, “We are here to help. Great hospice organizations provide healthcare, but some people have additional needs beyond that – and we want to be the ones to pick up where they leave off.”

Project 4031 is poised to provide help to the dying and their families with everything from paying outstanding bills, to fulfilling a final dream to go to a Texas Ranger’s game. One patient lived on several acres on which he and his dog were no longer able to roam. Project 4031 provided a golf cart for him to live out his last days, with his dog, surveying his land. “We can’t change the inevitable, but we can make a difference in the way its experienced” states Robertson.

Projects 4031 is actively involved with national hospice and palliative care organizations, and through those partnership have seen an increasing need for medical equipment and supplies both stateside and abroad. Project 4031 works closely with National HME, a local hospice medical equipment supplier. They graciously donate equipment, which can then be used by people in need, both in the states and around the globe. Robertson states, “Last year we were able to outfit an entire nursing home in Belize with beds, bedside tables, and other equipment. The beds replaced the dilapidated ones the residents had been sleeping on.”

Project 4031 is raising additional awareness for support toward this cause by celebrating Hospice Month in November at their third annual Fundraiser (Benefit Dinner and Movie Night, November 13th). Project 4031 proudly presents “Consider the Conversation: a documentary on a taboo subject,” which highlights the benefits of Hospice care and end of life decisions.
