NISD’s Schluter Elementary School celebrates Carl E. Schluter in a very unique way at the Outdoor Learning Center.

WHO: 600+ Schluter Elementary students, staff and parents
NISD’s Outdoor Learning Center staff

WHAT: November 7 Schluter Elementary will celebrate Carl E. Schluter Day. The campus will travel to the Outdoor Learning Center to conduct investigations relating to Mr. Schluter’s, the school’s namesake, interest. From his love of gardening to his interest in physics, students will spend the day learning about things Mr. Schluter would have taught his students. It is going to be a day full of fun labs that the students will be conducting and will conclude with the demonstration of their products. If you would like to follow the day, pictures will be posted on Twitter using #SpurOLC.

WHEN: November 7
8:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

WHERE: Outdoor Learning Center
7773 Mulkey Lane
Northlake, TX 76247

WHY: Northwest ISD designs dynamic learning experiences to ensure that all students are future-ready learners. Carl E. Schluter Day will not only challenge the minds of our students but will also help the students understand the importance Carl E. Schluter had on education in our district.

Northwest ISD’s sixteenth elementary school was named in honor of Carl E. Schluter. Schluter graduated from Rhome High School in 1943. He served on the NISD Board of Trustees from 1958 to 1963 and later taught math at Northwest High School, where he also served as the sponsor for several student groups. His son, Mark Schluter, currently serves as vice president of the NISD board, and four generations of the Schluter family have attended Northwest ISD schools.

NOTE: If you plan to attend, please contact Adam J. Bennett (817-215-0056).
