Leticia Van de Putte Coming Home For San Antonio Mayoral Race
Senator Leticia Van de Putte has announced that she will be running for Mayor of San Antonio.
Senator Van de Putte will be submitting a letter, later today, to Governor Perry expressing her intent to step down from the Texas Senate, upon the election and inauguration of a successor.
Senator Leticia Van de Putte issued the following statement:
“Con todo mi corazón, I humbly ask the families of San Antonio for the privilege to serve as their mayor.
“While many of my fellow San Antonians had asked me during my campaign for lieutenant governor to instead consider a run for mayor, every fiber of my being was already invested in that race. While we did not prevail, my commitment and service to Texas families and the next generation remains unwavering.
“I know that with my years of experience leading efforts in the Texas House and Senate as well as across our great state and nation, I can lead San Antonio to become the envy of the nation. Every San Antonio family and business owner deserves a government that works for them. As Mayor, I will lead with our city council to make San Antonio the best place to grow a business, raise a family, and build a prosperous future.
“It has been an honor to serve the families of San Antonio as their state senator and now I humbly ask for their continued support as mayor of this great city.”
