Culinary Students Present Meal Concepts to Local Eateries

Students in the culinary arts program at Irving High School will present their Kids Fit Meal creations to Humperdinks, as part of a partnership with Medical City. The health care system connected the students with the local eatery to create a child’s meal that is healthy and nutritious. The restaurant shared a list of their available ingredients and kitchen equipment, and the team of students spent time after school and on the weekends to research and develop meals accordingly. The presentation begins at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, at Irving High.

Last month, a trio of students in the culinary arts and hospitality at Jack E. Singley Academy presented three meal concepts to iFratelli Ristorante for the Kids Fit Menu Challenge. Sophomore Abelardo Villegas and freshmen Juan Altamirano and Chris Lovo presented to iFratelli owner David Cole and general manager, Logan Swanson on November 18. The restaurant personnel will meet with the head chef of their respective establishment to decide which of the options make their restaurant’s menu for a limited time. When the decision is made, students will be invited to the restaurant to see their concepts created and then will be treated to a meal. Visit the Photo Gallery to see pictures from this event.
