College Board to Celebrate Irving ISD, AP District of the Year
A celebratory assembly honoring Irving ISD as the National AP District of the Year will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, in the Irving High School Auditorium. Students who earned AP Scholar designations for the 2013-2014 school year will be recognized, and an AP teacher and student will speak. The event also includes a congratulatory video from Gov. Greg Abott and College Board representatives presenting the AP District of the Year Award to Superintendent Parra and School Board President Larry Stipes.
In the days surrounding the event, The College Board representatives will be at high school campuses to visit with students, teachers and administrators about their AP experience. In addition, the award will be mentioned during the board work session on Tuesday, February 17.
The award honors school districts for expanding access to Advanced Placement (AP) courses and improving AP Exam performance. For more information, visit http://irvingisd.net/APDistrictOfTheYear.
