KISD Art Students Excel at Regional Contest
Keller ISD is proud to announce that 51 pieces of artwork from KISD students qualified for the State VASE contest during the regional round hosted at Timber Creek High School.
The mission of the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) is to recognize exemplary student achievement in the Visual Arts by providing art students and programs a standard of excellence in which to achieve (www.taea.org/vase).
State qualifiers from Keller ISD were selected from more than 1,800 entries. These students, as well as students from the twenty regions throughout the state, will present their artwork at the State VASE Contest on April 24-25 in Dallas.
At the event, students participate in professional workshops, lectures, slide presentations, demonstrations, and outdoor sketching opportunities, while their artwork is judged. All of the entries are exhibited and open for viewing after the jury process has been completed. Students who receive a Superior Rating at the state contest are awarded with the VASE State Medallion, the equivalent of a State Champion.
