Watauga Brings National Small Business Week to North Texas

Watauga, Texas – National Small Business Week is May 4th – 8th and the City of Watauga is making it a local affair. The City is joining forces with the Small Business Administration (SBA), Tarrant County Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Northeast Tarrant Chamber of Commerce and Digital Brand Makeover to provide free business advice and networking to small business owners in Watauga.

The week’s events include breakfast at Joe’s Coffee Shop on Monday May 4th where Robin Lasher with the SBDC will educate small business owners on the free resource Size Up. When asked her opinion of the City’s Small Business week, Robin Lasher replied “While every city wants to support local small businesses and entrepreneurs during Small Business Week, Watauga has been very proactive in preparing and planning a variety of live and online events that provides numerous opportunities for existing or startup businesses to participate.”

Also in attendance will be Wayne Huddleston to talk about the SBA and how it partners with the SBDC and SCORE to support small business in Tarrant County. Digital Brand Makeover will lead a discussion on the importance of having an up-to-date website and social media strategy for small businesses on Friday May 8th at Pickles BBQ.

The City of Watauga will also facilitate conversations via social media using hashtags throughout the week including #TipTuesday, #WebinarWednesday and #TBT to provide valuable information and resources to small business owners. Follow #WataugaSBW to join in the conversation.

Small businesses are a vital piece of the local Dallas-Fort Worth economy. According to the SBA, 2 out of 3 net jobs created are from small businesses. Through Watauga Small Business Week, the City hopes to equip small business owners with the tools and information they need to be successful and expand.
