Local Entrepreneurs Set to kick off The 2015 Class of the SBA’s Emerging Leaders Initiative on April 6th

Fort Worth, Texas – The U.S. Small Business Administration Regional Administrator Yolanda Garcia Olivarez will speak during a kickoff ceremony for the Dallas/Fort Worth Emerging Leaders Class of 2015 at Dallas City Hall on April 6th. Seventeen small business executives will participate in the seven-month class.

“The Emerging Leaders Program is a resource that can open lucrative doors for America’s small businesses,” said Regional Administrator Olivarez, who manages the delivery of SBA programs in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma. “Graduates of the program have measurably increased their revenue, and helped create jobs and drive economic growth in their local communities. To date, 2,000 business executives have gone through the program nationwide, and they have secured more than $1 billion in contracts and accessed $73 million in new financing.

The intense program, will provide more than 40 hours of advanced management training and is being organized in collaboration with the SBA Dallas/Fort Worth District Office, North Texas Small Business Development Center, City of Dallas Office of Business Development & Procurement Services, DFW Minority Supplier Development Council, Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) DFW/Fort Worth chapters, Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce, US Pan American Asian Chamber of Commerce, North Texas Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders and Tri County Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

The Emerging Leaders Initiative is focused on small companies in Dallas/Fort Worth and surrounding areas that have the potential for rapid expansion and job creation. The firms had to have an operational track record of three years or more to gain entrance into the Emerging Leaders Initiative. “When these small business owners receive training through the Emerging Leaders Initiative, they become successful and ultimately our communities thrive and our nation’s economy is strengthened” said Herbert Austin, SBA’s Dallas/Fort Worth District Director.
