BNHS Business Academy Students Named National Champions as First Year Team
In its first year as a firm, the Byron Nelson High School Virtual Enterprise International (VEI) Business Program has been named national champions at the Global Business Challenge and International Trade Show. The BNHS team, along with the top 23 teams in the nation out of more than 500 firms, competed and pitched their companies at the Microsoft Headquarters to 19 judges. Additionally, the team received a first place in the International Website Competition and a second place in the International Catalog Competition. Senior Ashlyn Murphy won third place in the Global Business Challenge. Several students in the business program have also been offered full-ride scholarships to schools across the nation.
The nationally recognized presentation team includes (all seniors): Scott Travis, Ashlyn Murphy, Samantha Mullins, Vianca Santana, Izabella Carvalho, Hannah Ricketts, Jett Monroe and Sed Hossain. This is the first year the firm has worked together and the first year for the Virtual Enterprise International (VEI) program at Byron Nelson High School.
The Northwest High School VEI business team won a gold in the sales pitch competition, and senior Damon Lanum and his International Team placed in the Top Six in the Global Business Challenge. Team members included (all seniors): Paighton Kelly, Damon Lanum, Alexander Lopez, Zackri McCain and Rachel Stephens.
