NISD’s Carrie Pierce Selected to Lead as Principal of Hatfield Elementary School
Superintendent Karen G. Rue, Ed.D. recommended Carrie Pierce as the principal of Northwest ISD’s W.R. Hatfield Elementary School.
“I am pleased to recommend Carrie Pierce as the new principal of Hatfield Elementary School,” said Superintendent of Schools Karen G. Rue, Ed.D. “Ms. Pierce is a positive, collaborative and motivated educational leader. We look forward to her leadership in the Hatfield Elementary community.”
The NISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of Pierce at the school board meeting on April 27. Pierce has served students and staff in Northwest ISD for the past ten years. Currently, she is the assistant principal at Northwest ISD’s J.C. Thompson Elementary School. She has served as a campus instructional teacher at Northwest ISD’s Carl E. Schluter and J. Lyndal Hughes elementary schools, a gifted and talented specialist at Northwest ISD’s O.A. Peterson and J. Lyndal Hughes elementary schools, and a fourth grade teacher at J. Lyndal Hughes elementary school. Additionally, she has worked in Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD and Albuquerque Public Schools teaching third and fourth grades.
“I am passionate about cultivating positive relationships as I work to help increase student achievement, build capacity in teachers, and form partnerships with parents,” said Principal Carrie Pierce. “I look forward to working with the Hatfield community and building upon the culture that has been established at this high-achieving campus.”
Carrie Pierce received a bachelor of science in elementary education and a master of arts in elementary education from the University of New Mexico. She has also been named a finalist for Northwest ISD’s Teacher of the Year. She is a facilitator for Pearson and is a trainer for Readers and Writers Workshop.
Ms. Pierce will lead the Hatfield Elementary campus as principal beginning in the 2015-2016 school year. She succeeds Cathy Sager who is retiring in June.
