BISD’s Athletics Department is sponsoring a golf tournament Monday, May 11 at Iron Horse Golf Course. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Lunch will follow at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $75 per player or $300 per team. BISD students will attend school for a half-day on Tuesday, June 2 and Wednesday, June 3. Monday, June 1 is a full-day bad weather make-day for Tuesday, Feb. 24. High school students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m., elementary students at 12:10 p.m., and middle school students at 12:40 p.m. Prekindergarten and PPCD morning students will attend from 8:10‒10:10 a.m., and afternoon students will attend from 10:10 a.m. 12:10 p.m.

BISD is accepting online applications for parent/community volunteers for the 2015‒16 school year. New and returning volunteers can submit or renew their applications online at http://schools.birdvilleschools.net/Page/31523.

BISD has an employee recognition program called “A Touch of Class.” This program is an opportunity for students, staff, parents and community members to recognize employees for the extra-ordinary things they do for children and the district. Birdville ISD and JPS have joined together to provide two school-based clinics in the district. One is in Haltom City at 2807 Layton Ave., and the other is on the south side of The Academy at C.F. Thomas at 8200 O’Brian Way in North Richland Hills. The clinics treat students in BISD and their siblings, ages newborn to 18 years old. Services include: well-child visits, sports physicals, acute care, chronic illnesses (asthma, diabetes), immunizations, and much more. The clinic does not have X-ray capabilities or dental services.
