Francisco Elementary’s World’s Finest Chocolates fundraiser kickoff is at 2:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31.

Richland High School’s choir is having a car wash from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 at Cascades on Rufe Snow.

Richland High School’s Theatre Department is having a car wash from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 at Cascades on Boulevard 26.

 

SCHOOL NOTES

All BISD campuses and facilities will be closed Monday, Sept. 7 in observance of Labor Day.

Haltom High School’s cheerleaders are having a Youth Cheer Clinic from 2–5 p.m. Sept. 12 in the gym at Haltom.  The cost is $25 per person. Binion Elementary’s Parent Information Night is Sept. 17. Prekindergarten through second-grade begins at 6 p.m.

Third- through fifth-grade begins at 6:30 p.m.

Binion Elementary’s Chocolate Fundraiser Kickoff is Sept. 22. It will run through Oct. 8.

BISD’s 23nd annual Career & Technology Education Advisory Committee Scholarship Golf Scramble is Wednesday, Sept. 23 at Iron Horse Golf Course in North Richland Hills. The entry deadline is Sept. 14. Tee-off is at 8 a.m. with lunch following at 12:30 p.m. The fee for individuals is $95 and teams are $380. Registration includes: greens fee, cart, golf balls, tees and lunch. Proceeds from the Scholarship Scramble benefit BISD Career & Technology Education students who plan to continue their education. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Watauga Middle School’s band is selling Texas Rangers tickets and game coupons. For $40, you get four tickets and six coupons, each one good for two half-off tickets. Tickets and coupons are good for home games through Oct. 1. For information, contact Laurie Engelby at laurie.engelby@birdvilleschools.net or 817-547-4841.

 

BISD is accepting online applications for parent/community volunteers for the 2015‒16 school year. New and returning volunteers can submit or renew their applications online atwww.birdvilleschools.net/volunteerapplication.

 

BISD has an employee recognition program called “A Touch of Class.” This program is an opportunity for students, staff, parents and community members to recognize employees for the extra-ordinary things they do for children and the district. Birdville ISD and JPS have joined together to provide two school-based clinics in the district. One is in Haltom City at 2807 Layton Ave., and the other is on the south side of The Academy at C.F. Thomas at 8200 O’Brian Way in North Richland Hills. The clinics treat students in BISD and their siblings, ages newborn to 18 years old. Services include:  well-child visits, sports physicals, acute care, chronic illnesses (asthma, diabetes), immunizations, and much more. The clinic does not have X-ray capabilities or dental services.
