Eatzi’s Market & Bakery in Grapevine

Eatzi’s Market & Bakery in Grapevine

Founder and owner of Eatzi’s Market & Bakery, Phil J. Romano put’s himself in his customers shoes in order to provide the best dinning experience. On the Eatzi’s official website,, there is a large quote on the “about us” page that catches the eye immediately saying, “When I do a restaurant, I do it to please myself. Eatzi’s provides something that I’d like to have, that I’d enjoy”.

It’s clear he wants customers to know that he cares. Romano has been in the restaurant business for over forty years and has created over twenty-five dining concepts. Eatzi’s is not Romano’s only business accomplishment though, for his restaurant concept creations, ownerships, and charity work Romano has received various awards over the past twenty years, and has rightfully earned his place in the Dallas Business Hall of Fame, and Texas Business Hall of Fame.

However, Romano can’t run a multi-billion dollar business on this own, Eatzi’s CEO, Adam Romo leads the company’s expansion efforts. This year Romo earned a spot on Nation’s Restaurant News – Most Powerful People in Food Service list. He joined the Eatzi’s team in 2011 and has been dedicated to improving the company ever since, here is what he had to say about the past and future of Eatzi’s:

What do you think makes your company different from others in the area?
We were the first “fast-casual” concept ever, born in 1996. What makes us unique from all of the other concepts today is they have very limited menus. Eatzi’s has over 1,600 items and all our food (vs grocery type, specialty items) are prepared from scratch, every day, onsite, by our talented team of culinary trained chefs.

QVC-PT….Quality, Variety, Convenience, Price-value, and Theater are the Eatzi’s core elements which differentiate us from everyone else. No other business combines gourmet quality food, with such an expansive selection, in a convenient to-go format, with tremendous price value, in a single high-energy, exhibition cooking environment.

Why did you pick the location and how did you discover the area?
Northeast Tarrant County is a fantastic area for food, retailing, and entertainment. The consumers are educated, discerning and sophisticated foodies. They demand what Eatzi’s offers. It’s a wonderful place to do business.

How many employees do you have?
We have approximately 800 wonderful employees. They are the reason for the continued success we are fortunate to experience in our four stores and catering business.

What is the long term goal of the business?
Our goal is to bring Eatzi’s to more and more people throughout the DFW Metroplex. We will continue seeking great locations and opening new stores in a disciplined, prudent manner.

Please tell the readers about yourself or any info you want to share?
Philanthropy is very important to me. I serve on the Board of Hunger Busters, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is feeding underprivileged children. Eatzi’s is the primary benefactor of Hunger Busters, providing almost 200,000 meals a year to undernourished children (in West Dallas) who don’t have access to dinner. Local Location: 1200 W.
