NISD Partners with Aviation Academy
Next year, V.R. Eaton High School students will have the opportunity to complement their classroom studies with online and dual enrollment education from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
The Northwest Independent School District (NISD) will join forces with the internationally known aviation and aerospace university during a signing event at 10:15 a.m., Friday, Sept. 11, at V.R. Eaton High School, 1350 Eagle Blvd., Fort Worth. This new relationship will provide students in the new Aeronautics & Aviation Academy with online instruction and classroom dual enrollment courses in aviation/aerospace and engineering from Embry-Riddle instructors.
“This academy will provide for students an opportunity to explore a pathway into this high-paying and vitally important job sector that is entrenched in Northwest ISD,” said NISD Superintendent Dr. Karen Rue. “This addition comes at a great time, with more than 300 aviation employers in the North Texas area and nearly 2,500 jobs available annually in Texas for the aviation and aeronautics sector. Starting next fall, students interested in aviation and aerospace will have the opportunity to enroll in the academy at V.R. Eaton High School. This program will work to enhance student performance while directly ensuring our students are ready for college, the global work place and personal success.”
J. Michael Williams, Executive Director of Enrollment Services and Partnerships at Embry-Riddle Worldwide, added, “This relationship is a win-win for both the university and the students in the Northwest Independent School District. The Dallas/Fort Worth area is rich with aviation and aerospace career opportunities. We look forward to supporting the next generation and the community by providing aviation instruction to academy students.”
