Now that fall is right around the corner the weather is getting cooler, so come on out and take advantage of all the outdoor events coming up this month in Bedford.

Are you looking to buy furniture for the house or want to sell clothes you never wore? Check out the annual Big Bedford Bazaar Event on Saturday, October 17, going on rain or shine, from 9:00a.m to 3:30p.m. at Pennington Field, 1849 Central Drive. This FREE event offers a variety of items to purchase such as arts and crafts, tools, antiques, household goods, toys and more. The Bazaar is sponsored by the Library Friends and all proceeds go to the Bedford Library. For more information call 817-952-2350 or visit

After the Bazaar, head on over to the Fire Department Open House on Saturday, October 17 from 10:00a.m. to 2:00p.m at the Central Fire Station at 1816 Bedford Road. The Open House is an opportunity for residents and visitors to take a tour of the Fire Department, meet the Firefighters and see all the equipment and apparatus that they use every day. It is a sneak peek into the everyday lives of these heroic men and women. At this event there is fun for the whole family such as demonstrations by our Firefighters and Arson Dog, bounce houses for the kids, a fire hose spray and more. While you are there, make sure to get a hot dog cooked by me, Mayor Jim Griffin. This is a free event, but please help us kick off the Holiday Food Drive by bringing nonperishable food items for donation. For more information please call 817-952-2500.

What would October be without our annual Bedford HalloweenFest?!  Bring your not-so-scary ghosts and goblins and join us as we celebrate the Fall season with HalloweenFest at the Boys Ranch on Saturday, October 24 from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m.. This fun, family-friendly event will include carnival games, crafts, bounce houses, candy and more. There will be a costume contest, so dress to impress! Music will be provided by a DJ and concessions and novelties will be available for purchase. Entry is free with canned food or a monetary donation and for more information please call the BRAC at 817-952-2323.

Last but not least, Bedford City Offices will be closed all day on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11 for an in service training day. The Library, Boys Ranch Activity Center, City Hall, Senior Center and the Old Bedford School will be closed, however the Police and Fire Departments will continue to respond to emergencies.
