At the school board meeting on May 22, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved administration’s recommendation of Cynthia Webber as principal of the district’s new Leo Adams Middle School.
“It is my privilege and honor to recommend Cynthia Webber as the principal of Adams Middle School,” said Superintendent of Schools Ryder Warren, Ed.D. “She has been a strong leader in Northwest ISD. I am confident she is the right fit to lead our students and staff at our newest middle school campus.”
Mrs. Webber has served students and families in Northwest ISD since 2004 at Haslet, Prairie View, Roanoke and J.C. Thompson elementary schools. Her teaching experience spans pre-kindergarten to fourth grade. She has worked as a STAR (Strategic Techniques for Academic Results) teacher and an ELL (English Language Learners) instructional support teacher for kindergarten through 12th grade. She is currently the principal of Haslet Elementary School and has served as an assistant principal at Northwest ISD’s Byron Nelson High School.
“It is bittersweet to leave Haslet Elementary School, but I look forward to continue working with the Haslet community as principal of Adams Middle School,” said Principal Cynthia Webber. “I am honored to be selected for this position. I look forward to the entire process of opening a new campus and cannot wait to collaborate with families, students and the community to build the Leo Adams Middle School culture where the best is expected for and from every student.”
Mrs. Webber will graduate with her Doctor of Education in educational administration from Dallas Baptist University in 2018. She has a Master of Education from Texas Christian University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Rice University. Additionally, she was a member of the North Texas Regional Consortium Visioning Cohort.
Leo Adams Middle School will be the district’s sixth middle school serving sixth through eighth graders. The campus is expected to open in August 2018 and is located in far north Fort Worth/Haslet, across the street from NISD’s V.R. Eaton High School and Carl E. Schluter. The campus, designed by PBK, will feature an interior courtyard, collaboration areas, turf fields and athletic and fine arts wings. In December, the district celebrated with PBK and Pogue Construction at an official Groundbreaking Ceremony.
The campus is named for a highly respected man, Leo Adams, who lived in the Justin community. Mr. Adams was a founding member on the NISD school board in 1949, the owner of Justin Lumber Company and a mayor in Justin. His daughter Jeannine Adams Eaton is married to Roy Eaton, who is the son of V.R. Eaton, NISD’s third comprehensive high school located next to the new middle school site.
This fall, a committee of students and parents will collaborate to decide on the campus mascot and colors. Mrs. Webber will begin her new role as principal of Adams Middle School this summer allowing for a full year for planning and hiring for the new middle school. The search will begin immediately for a principal for Haslet Elementary School.
