Rotary Golf Tournament Raises $17,000 for Local Education
The Rotary Club of Keller raised more than $17,000 at its Annual Golf Tournament and will hold a special luncheon Tuesday, May 30, to present checks to three community organizations dedicated to supporting education in the community, along with honoring golf tournament sponsors that made the event possible.
“We hold this golf tournament every year to support organizations making a difference in the lives of Keller ISD students,” said Rotary Golf Tournament Chair and Keller High School Principal Michael Nasra. “As someone who works for KISD, I can attest to the impact it has on students across the District. Rotary exists to improve our community and we are doing just that with the money raise at our golf tournament.”
The Golf Tournament, which was held May 2 at Sky Creek Ranch, boasted more than 140 golfers and raised $17,048. The event supports three organizations which are all focused on education and the students of Keller ISD including: the KISD Education Foundation, which provides strategic financial support to enhance the academic environment of the District; the Community Storehouse, which is dedicated to the education and well-being of low-income children in the community; and the Rotary’s own Foundation, which also has an education-driven mission and provides scholarships to KISD students.
Keller ISD high school golf teams participated in the tournament by assisting with the Longest Drive hole, and each team received $437 for their involvement.
The Rotary Club of Keller is focused on building a better Keller community through “service above self.” The Rotary Club of Keller meets at noon every Tuesday at Sky Creek Ranch. Guests are welcome to attend lunch and learn more about how they can get involved, or invited to contact Rotary President Cindy Johnson at RotaryClubOfKeller@mail.com.
