Grapevine, TX., June 15, 2017 — Tandy Glover has received a second chance at life! In 2007, he learned his kidneys weren’t functioning correctly, and he was in end-stage renal failure by the following year. Soon after that diagnosis, he began regular dialysis treatments. Doctors said a kidney transplant was essential, and thankfully, he received his new kidney on February 7, 2016!

Throughout this entire process, Glover has had a wonderful support system by his side every step of the way, and he is so grateful for the steadfast encouragement of his loved ones. He enjoys staying active by spending time with his family and playing with his niece and nephews.

The average kidney transplant costs approximately $335,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover the cost of the transplant, he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself. For follow-up care, Glover travels 60 miles from his home to the transplant center, incurring substantial travel expenses for each visit.

For fundraising support and guidance, Glover and his family turned to the National Foundation for Transplants (NFT) for assistance with some of these financial burdens. NFT is a nonprofit organization that helps patients raise funds to pay for transplant-related expenses through their community-based fundraising program.

“I’m so happy Tandy received his transplant,” said Kristen Ball, NFT fundraising consultant. “Most people don’t realize that beyond the surgery, patients still need a lifetime of medicine and care to keep those organs healthy. At NFT, we’re dedicated to helping him raise the funds he needs to afford his lifesaving treatment.”

Starting at 11:00am, on June 24, 2017, California Pizza Kitchen will host a fundraiser for NFT in honor of Tandy Glover. The “Pizza With A Purpose” benefit will be located on 1051 State Highway 114, Grapevine, TX 76051. Please inform the restaurant that you would like your purchase to be in honor of Glover by showing them a flyer of this event.
