Irving ISD: Ribbon Cutting for Natatorium to be held Next Week

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will celebrate the newly renovated natatorium at North Lake College. The ceremony also celebrates a partnership between Irving ISD, the City of Irving and North Lake College. The North Lake Natatorium, a 50-meter indoor swimming facility, is open for year-round classes and swimming activities for the Irving community. It is operated and managed by the City of Irving for joint use by the city and Irving ISD.

Irving ISD students participate in aquatics programs at the natatorium including:
-SwimSafe Program – elementary school students learn basic water safety and swimming strokes, which will allow them to develop confidence and competence in these important life skills
-Swim Academy – an after-school program for middle school students that extends swimming skills and water safety knowledge, as well as introduces further opportunities in aquatics, such as participating on the city/school swim and water polo teams, lifeguarding, swimming instruction and swimming for fitness
-High school teams – UIL-sanctioned swimming programs as well as competitive water polo teams offered at the high school level
