NISD: District celebrates 12 student-athletes signing letters of intent
Northwest ISD’s three comprehensive high schools – Byron Nelson, Eaton and Northwest – each celebrated multiple student-athletes signing letters of intent to play collegiate sports on Wednesday, Nov. 8, marking the first time the trio have all had senior classes at the same time.
In its first year with a senior class, Eaton High School led the way with seven student-athletes signing letters of intent. Baseball and volleyball each had three signees, while track and field had one. From the baseball team, Colby Seltzer (Tarleton State University), Jarod Seals (University of Arkansas at Monticello) and Cade Winquest (University of Texas at Arlington) each signed to play collegiate sports. From volleyball, Lindsay Ferkel (Northwestern Oklahoma State University), Kaylee Payne (Texas A&M Corpus Christi) and Fabiola Rivera (Southern Arkansas University) signed. From the track and field team, Allyn Tyer signed with Texas Tech University.
From Byron Nelson High School, three student-athletes signed letters of intent, with one signing to compete in two sports. Sanaä Barnes signed her letter of intent to compete in both volleyball and track and field at Villanova, and teammate Elle Duis signed to play volleyball at the Colorado School of Mines. From the softball team, Maddie Flores signed her letter to play at Regis University.
Northwest High School was represented by two student-athlete signees. Mason Hix signed to play basketball at the University of Texas at Arlington, and Taylor Esquivel signed to run for Cameron University in cross country and track.
