NISD: Three Destination Imagination teams advance to state tournament
Three Northwest ISD teams have advanced to the Destination Imagination State Tournament in Mansfield following their victories at the Greater Fort Worth Regional Tournament, providing them with the opportunity to qualify for the Global Finals.
Teams from Northwest High School (THAT Better Team), Chisholm Trail Middle School (Hangry Panda Tacos) and Granger Elementary School (Savage Cabbages) advanced to the state event, which will take place April 6 and 7, by finishing first at the Fort Worth Regional Tournament on Feb. 24. Northwest’s team advanced in the maze crazy technical challenge, as did Granger’s team. Chisholm Trail’s team advanced in the improvisational treasure challenge.
In addition to the state qualifiers, the following schools had teams that also earned places at the regional tournament with their scores: Eaton High School; Medlin and Pike middle schools; and Haslet, Lakeview, Love, Nance, Roanoke Schluter, Seven Hills and Thompson elementary schools. On the individual side, Eaton senior Emma Bluestein earned the Magellan Award at the regional meet for competing in all six challenges available over the course of her Destination Imagination career.
In all, 64 teams from Northwest ISD schools competed in the regional Destination Imagination tournament.
