NISD: District earns Common Sense certification
Common Sense Education, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving families by providing trustworthy information, has recognized Northwest ISD as a 2017-18 Common Sense District for its lessons on digital citizenship and use of technology.
Northwest ISD is dedicated to developing students into digital citizens who know how to harness the learning potential of digital media safely, effectively, ethically and respectfully in an always-connected world. All district students engage in digital citizenship lessons based on Common Sense resources as well as local stakeholder resources and input.
Examples of digital citizenship topics covered include internet safety, cyberbullying, privacy, security, copyright, creative use, social media and personal digital footprints.
The digital citizenship effort at Northwest ISD is led by the district’s instructional technology team, which coordinates with the district’s curriculum and technology staff.
