NISD: Thompson teacher Kelly Suarez wins science education award
Texas Medical Association has named Thompson Elementary School teacher Kelly Suarez as a third-place winner in its Ernest and Sarah Butler Awards for Excellence in Science Teaching, providing her and her school with $3,000.
Mrs. Suarez received the award based on her creativity and passion for teaching science. She will receive $2,000 for the honor, while TMA will provide Thompson Elementary with $1,000 for its science curriculum. Just 11 teachers were honored by TMA as part of the Butler Awards, with just two third-place winners.
The honor follows Mrs. Suarez recently being named Northwest ISD’s Elementary Teacher of the Year. She will soon go on to compete in the regional Elementary Teacher of the Year competition.
