NISD: Recording of Facebook Live over proposed attendance boundaries, maps now available
Families can now view a recording of a recent video discussion regarding recommended proposed Northwest ISD attendance zones for 2019-20 and view maps of the proposals.
Dr. Ryder Warren, superintendent of schools, and Tim McClure, assistant superintendent for facilities, recently hosted a Facebook Live video discussion about attendance zones recommended by the attendance boundary committee. The proposals make a new zone for the currently under-construction Lance Thompson Elementary School and adjust some boundaries at the elementary, middle and high school levels to accommodate student population growth.
As Northwest ISD continues to manage population growth, it is often necessary to make attendance boundary adjustments prior to a new school year. The district continues to add about 1,100 students to its enrolled population annually. Lance Thompson Elementary is slated to open in August 2019, and a committee composed of parents, teachers, principals and administrative staff from every district campus participated in the attendance boundary committee.
Additional parents and guardians from schools potentially affected by rezoning were also included in the committee to participate in the creation of boundaries as well as review and critique proposals.
