Fort Worth’s draft Active Transportation Plan is online
Fort Worth’s goal is to develop a plan for a transportation system that provides multiple alternatives for travel. The Active Transportation Planwill focus on walking and bicycling, including connectivity between other modes such as vehicles and transit.
This plan will integrate and update previous planning efforts such as the Walk Fort Worth and Bike Fort Worth plans, develop a new Trails Master Plan and provide coordination with the regional Transit Master Plan. The result will be a unified citywide transportation network for people who walk and bike, with a coordinated implementation strategy for planning, prioritizing and building improvements.
The Active Transportation Plan is a validation requirement for the Blue Zones Project, a communitywide well-being improvement initiative to help make healthy choices easier for everyone in Fort Worth.
The draft version of this plan is now online. There are a few placeholders in the plan for updated costs, prioritization and performance measures, as this information is still being refined. Expect another draft that includes these additional updates.
The comment period for the draft is open through March 1. Direct comments to Julia Ryan at 817-392-2593.
