Fort Worth: The Family PlayHouse opens at Ridgmar Mall with 5D cinema to follow

Parents with young children now have a new family-friendly entertainment option with The Family PlayHouse at Ridgmar Mall, a center owned by GK Development Inc.

Last month, Ben Blewusi and Julide Blewusi, co-owners of The Family PlayHouse, opened the 2,000-square-foot indoor playground designed for children ages 12 and under. The couple currently owns and operates the small carousel ride across from Shoe Dept. Encore on the lower level of the mall.

Located closer to the south end of the mall, the indoor playground features slides, a ball pit, carnival funhouse mirrors and various obstacles for children. Admission ranges from $5-$11, and siblings receive a $1 discount. A private room is available to reserve for birthday parties and school field trips.

“The idea of the playhouse is something we contemplated for a number of years,” said Ben Blewusi. “We always dreamed of owning a place where families could spend quality time together without stretching their budget.”

This month, the pair plans to bring a small, dome-shaped cinema to the same area. The theater will accommodate six people at a time, playing 10-15-minute clips and featuring various simulated effects, such as fire, rain and snow.

“The playhouse has already been a huge success in the mall,” said Carrie Kalita, leasing manager of GK Development Inc. “Families enjoy having another area in the mall where kids can release their energy after a long day of shopping.”

The mall, located at the northeast corner of Interstate 30 and Green Oaks Road, currently features about 126 retail stores. For more information, visit www.Ridgmar.com.
