NISD: Both Byron Nelson teams, Northwest girls team qualify for state golf tournament
The boys and girls golf teams from Byron Nelson High School and the Northwest High School girls golf team have advanced to the UIL state tournament in their sport after strong performances at their regional meets.
Byron Nelson’s girls golf team qualified for the UIL Golf State Tournament after finishing third in the 6A Region I tournament. They will play in the state tournament at the Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown on Monday, May 13, and Tuesday, May 14. The Bobcat girls golf team is composed of Jillian Brown, MacKenzie Moore, Hunter Gillis, Kate Laird and Estelle Seon.
The Bobcat boys team also finished third at the 6A Region I tournament, with David Harrison placing second overall as an individual. Byron Nelson’s boys will also play at the Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown, though their state tournament takes place Monday, May 20, and Tuesday, May 21. In addition to David, the boys team is composed of Logan Johnson, Joseph Jones, Brady Larza and Nathan Sudberry.
Northwest’s girls golf team earned the 5A Region I championship at their tournament with a first-place finish. They will play in their state tournament at White Wing Golf Club in Georgetown on Monday, May 13, and Tuesday, May 14. The Texan girls golf team is composed of Ashley Davis (who placed third overall at region), Madison Davis, Avree Fields, Jacee Fields and Chole Hutton.
The Byron Nelson golf teams are coached by Barry Hawkins. The Northwest golf teams are coached by Jeff Fields.
