KISD: KHS Softball Headed Back To State Tourney
The four-time State Champion Keller High softball team is headed back to the UIL Class 6A State Tournament for the third time in four years after sweeping Eaton High in the Region 1-6A Finals.
KHS won Game One of the best-of-three Regional Final series 3-1 on Wednesday, May 22, before completing a perfect run through Region 1 with a 6-5 win on Thursday, May 23, to earn a spot in the State Tournament.
After opening the playoffs with a 5-2 win over Coppell in a winner-take-all Bi-District Round matchup, the District 5-6A Champion Indians went on to sweep best-of-three series over South Grand Prairie in the Area Round, Southlake Carroll in the Regional Quarterfinal, and Wollforth Frenship in the Regional Final, before facing District 5-6A Runner-Up Eaton in the Regional Finals.
UIL will announce State Tournament pairings on Sunday, May 26. The Class 6A State Semifinals are set for Friday evening, May 31, with the State Championship to be played Saturday, June 1. All 6A games will be played at McCombs Field in Austin.
The trip to Austin marks Keller High’s ninth visit to the State Tournament. KHS won State Titles in 2003, 2005, 2016, and 2017.
