Colleyville Police Now Carrying Narcan
The Colleyville Police Department is taking action to fight against the national opioid epidemic. CPD is now one of a growing number of law enforcement agencies across the nation that has the ability to administer a life-saving medication for those near death because of a suspected opioid overdose.
CPD has launched a program to equip all of its officers with the life-saving drug naloxone, more commonly known as Narcan. Narcan is a medication, without any side effects, that is designed to rapidly reverse an opioid overdose. With the growing opioid epidemic and the increased presence of powerful opioids like fentanyl and carfentanil on the streets, police officials think it’s an important tool that could save the life of an overdose victim or even one of their officers who inadvertently comes into contact with an opioid.
