2019 Sounds of Lewisville

2019 Sounds of Lewisville

Lewisville will celebrate Independence Day on Wednesday, July 3, with a Sounds of Red, White & Lewisville concert and fireworks show in Old Town.

The Sounds of Red, White & Lewisville, presented by BioLife Plasma Services, kicks off at 6 p.m. in Wayne Ferguson Plaza with country rock band Hightower Band. Hightower is a five-piece Texi-Cali band with heavy influences of soul and rock peppered with a little country.

Satisfaction – The International Rolling Stones Experience will take the stage at 8 p.m. Satisfaction is celebrating its 18th year of touring and returns to Sounds of Lewisville after playing here in 2016 and 2017. This Billboard and Pollstar listed performance showcases the most authentic cast and costuming of its kind. The likes of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and cast bring a colorful performance to 50 years of classic hits.

6 p.m. – Event opens with carnival attractions, food vendors, face painting, vendors
6 p.m. – Hightower Band, country rock
8 p.m. – Satisfaction, the International Rolling Stones Experience
9:30ish p.m. – Fireworks show launched from the roof of the MCL Grand
Around 9:30 p.m. fireworks will be launched from the courtyard and roof of MCL Grand, 100 N. Charles Street. There will not be any other fireworks viewing areas outside of Old Town, so come early and get a good seat for the concerts and fireworks.

To alleviate traffic and parking congestion, the City is strongly encouraging attendees to use the shuttle system or a ride-sharing service to get to Old Town. Shuttles are free and will run 5-11 p.m. Shuttle services will be set up at two locations:

* Lowe’s Home Improvement at I-35 & Valley Ridge (park near the back of the Garden Center)
* North end of Lone Star Toyota of Lewisville Railroad Park

While the event at Wayne Ferguson Plaza is pet-friendly, people who use the shuttle will not be allowed to bring their animals on the bus. Many dogs are easily frightened by fireworks, so pet owners should not bring animals that are not accustomed to pyrotechnic displays. Owners are expected to clean up after their pets, and plastic bag dispensers are available on site.

Attendees who prefer to drive themselves will have several locations to park, including:

East and West lots of City Hall, 151 W. Church Street
Public lot at the northwest corner of Mill and Walters
Public lot at the northwest corner of Mill and Elm
Public lot south of Kealy and Main, behind Tierney’s Café & Tavern
Lewisville Visitor Information Center, 247 W. Main Street
North Point Christian Church, 422 N. Mill Street

Due to the nature of this event, there will be several road closures in and around Old Town. A map of the road closures, and the public parking lots, is posted on the Wayne Ferguson Plaza parking page.

Guests are reminded that smoking and vaping are prohibited in Wayne Ferguson Plaza, and the use of glass containers is strongly discouraged. Chairs and blankets can be used for comfortable viewing, but canopies and umbrellas are not allowed during the concert or fireworks.

The award-winning Wayne Ferguson Plaza is a 1.5-acre urban park that takes on a contemporary sweeping gesture using water to link east to west and united Lewisville City Hall and MCL Grand. It features an elevated stage, a multi-level seating area, an interactive splash pad and a garden filled with swathes of native grasses and wildflowers.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the event including Chiaves Italian Street Food, Pop’s Kettle Corn, Patrick’s Pops, Crown Mexican, Eggstand, Vizcarra Hospitality, and beer and wine. Or come to Old Town early and enjoy a pre-show dinner at one of the many restaurants in the entertainment district – Alkey’s Lounge & Eatery, J2 Steakhouse, Old Town Wine House, Prohibition Chicken, Tierney’s Old Town Café, and Twisted Root Burger Co.

To reach the concert sites from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. The MCL Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Charles streets, or at Lewisville City Hall.
