July 10 Press Conference for Tarrant County Back to School Round Up

WHAT:                 Mark your calendars for July 10th — this is they day that Tarrant County Community Leaders and Supporters are announcing the new location — Tarrant County Community College South Campus – and registration information for the 15th annual Tarrant County Back to School Roundup.  This annual event is instrumental is preparing Tarrant County children for a successful school year. Pre-registration is currently available online through July 26,, and is highly recommended for the August 8th event from 8am-2pm; however, eligible families will be able to register the day of the event with the proper documents.

Presented by the Sid Richardson Foundation, Roundup is a one-stop shop to prepare the whole family for the start of school. It provides students with free school supplies as well as health, dental and vision screenings, sports physicals, eye exams, immunizations, haircuts and information on education, health and social services. The event is free and open to eligible families who reside in Tarrant County.

WHO:               Speakers will be Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley; Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price; Tarrant County College South Campus President, Peter Grant Jordan and Acting Board President Chris Zimmer, Tarrant County Back To School Roundup.


WHY:                With approximately 20,000 students and parents expected to attend Roundup, it is essential to support Tarrant County families and ensure that every child is set up to experience an exemplary school year. About 10,000 school packets will be given away and elementary-aged school children will be given backpacks.

Tarrant County Back to School Roundup is laser focused on school aged children and is a collaborative effort among Tarrant County and its 20 school districts, its municipalities, public health department, state agencies, nonprofits, corporate sponsors and volunteers.

WHEN:             Wednesday, July 10, at 1:30 p.m. (mini-fair activities beginning at 1:00pm.)
