Keller: Council approves new population figure
The Keller City Council at their July 2 meeting approved a new population for our community of 45,090 residents. The 2019 estimate comes from the North Central Texas of Governments based upon housing data from 2018, and is a 0.3% increase over our 2018 population estimate.
“The original comprehensive plan for Keller drafted in the ’70s estimated a population of about 50,000 people when all’s said and done, and I believe the fact that we’re still on course to hit right around that figure is a testament to the vision of our residents and city leaders over many, many years,” Mayor Pat McGrail said.
The Council of Governments’ population estimates show about 158,000 people added to a 16-county North Texas region over the last year, bringing the total population for the area to just under 7.55 million.
