North Texas Hosts “Love Never Fails” Swahili Convention
Hundreds of Swahili-language speakers made their way into North Texas this weekend to enjoy the three-day “Love Never Fails” convention. Delegates traveled from as far away as Utah, California, and Washington eager to hear the program in their native tongue. Swahili is spoken in various countries of Africa including Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania. The three-day event is part of a global series of conventions being presented this summer in over 400 languages and 200 countries around the world. The program highlights how Bible principles help people in practical ways.
Convention delegate Bendera Mtima, a Congo native who now resides in Iowa, was thankful of the program and glad to have made the journey to North Texas. “It just touched my heart,” he said after the first day’s session. “It’s like a miracle to be able to hear it in my own language.”
This weekend’s “Love Never Fails” convention program is being presented in English, Spanish, and Swahili at various venues across North Texas. Times and locations can be found on the official websiteof Jehovah’s Witnesses, www.jw.org.
