HEB ISD: New District, School, and Department Websites Launched

HEB ISD: New District, School, and Department Websites Launched

Today, we are rolling out our new school district, department, and school websites! We’ll continue fine-tuning our new system over time, but we can already highlight some day-one improvements based on requests from our community:

Improved navigation & search — our content and menus are structured in the same way they were before, so people who knew the old website by heart can still find what they’re looking for. However, we’ve improved navigation in ways that will save “clicks” for common tasks. (For example, you can now access a list of department websites with one click on the word “Departments”.) Our new search feature will rely on the power of Google, and will continue to improve as the search engine’s servers begin to learn where pages are on our new website.

More Mobile & Social — you’ve told us that you’re using smartphones and social media, and we’ve listened! This website is built on a “responsive” template, which means one website can provide the same information to users on computers and on smartphones and tablets. As our parents increasingly seek information through social media, we’ve embedded our official social media accounts on each school’s homepage for the first time.

Better access for all — our new system has subtle features aimed at improving access for everyone. The Translate link on every page allows more parents to increase their involvement in their child’s education. Behind the scenes, accessibility improvements make the website work better for everyone, including people with disabilities.

Financial Efficiency — this new site also prioritizes our HEB ISD goal of efficient and effective operations: our new system costs roughly half as much as our previous system, and provides more flexibility and options as the district’s technology needs change over time.

Beyond the website, we’re also updating the other ways we communicate. For example, we are gradually replacing many “robo-calls” with emails and text messages. We’ll share more about how to receive text messages from HEB ISD in the upcoming weeks.

If you have questions about anything that appears to not be working on the new website, we’d love to know it! Please send a note to
