Westcoat Road Repairs Scheduled for Saturday, August 17
Because of a water main break earlier this week, a large portion of Westcoat was destroyed to repair the line. Public Works will be performing a full repair of Westcoat Road between McDonwell School Road and John McCain Road on Saturday, August 17, from 6 a.m. to noon. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic but we are asking drivers to avoid this area if possible.
On Wednesday afternoon, contractors were working near the intersection of McDonwell School Road and Westcoat Road when they hit a major water main and ruptured the line.
Colleyville employees sprung into action. Several police officers worked to reroute traffic while public works crews started making repairs. Crews were able to contain the leak and isolate it by 7 p.m. Water was restored to affected residents around 7 a.m. the next day and Westcoat Road reopened later that morning.
There was a great deal of work that went into isolating and repairing the 8-inch water main. Crews had to locate the valves to isolate three water main lines. Valves were covered in water and mud requiring the use of metal detectors. Much of the street was destroyed so crews could make necessary repairs.
We appreciate the continued patience and support we receive from residents relating to this matter. We also appreciate the intense labor performed by our Public Works employees who worked tirelessly through the night to make repairs.
